Daylesford Mineral Springs

Daylesford, originally called Wombat Flat, was founded in 1852 upon the discovery of alluvial gold in the area now occupied by Lake Daylesford. Daylesford-Hepburn Springs is located in a once mountainous region formed by volcanic activity about 5 million years ago. The area has long been noted for its mineral springs and has becomes a major spa and alternative lifestyle destination in Victoria. Many of the original facilities pictured here have been superceded by modern hi-tech resorts. Photographs © Hin Lim
